14850 Magazine

Thank you for your interest in writing for 14850 Magazine!
14850 Magazine offers diverse editorial content, specializing in writings dealing with local Ithaca issues, timely topics, and subjects that have an impact on the twentysomething and thirtysomething generation. We focus on local entertainment, issues, and people, as well as on topics of more general interest to the world at large.
People find 14850 Magazine by doing a sometimes alarming array of web searches; we're often stunned at how they've come across us. While we can't promise fame and fortune, we can promise your writing, if we publish it, will be read.
We suggest you get in touch with us before writing your article to discuss it with us, but we also accept unsolicited submissions of finished work.
  • We prefer electronic submissions, preferably in plain text. Feel free to e-mail the address shown below (displayed graphically only, to frustrate spam spiders). Please make arrangements with us before sending file attachments.
  • Articles may be submitted on paper to 14850 Magazine, Post Office Box 4233, Ithaca, New York 14852-4233. Paper submissions should be typed, double-spaced, on white paper, with name, address, and phone number in the upper left corner. 3.5" floppy disks containing submissions may also be mailed to this address. If you would like your materials returned, please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
  • Submissions should be 600 words or more. The web allows us enormous flexibility in publishing long articles, but most submissions should not exceed 3,000 words.
  • We're delighted to publish photos or other artwork with articles. Please provide them with your submission. If you are not the copyright holder, please secure reprint permission or provide us with contact info so that we can.
  • Please include a suggested title, and a short bio for the end of your article. Let us know if you'd like your e-mail address published.
  • Let us know if the work has been published before, in the same or similar form. This won't necessarily stop us from publishing it now, but we'd like to know.
